"The limits of my language are the limits of my world."
"Philosophy is a battle against the bewitchment of our intelligence by means of language."
"To understand a sentence means to understand a language. To understand a language means to be master of a technique (Philosophical Investigations)
"Ethics is an enquiry into what is valuable, or, into what is really important , or I could have said Ethics is the enquiry into the meaning of life, or into what makes life worth living, or into the right way of living."
HOW TO THINK > WHAT TO THINK
Language is not just a tool for expressing pre-existing meanings but actively constructs our social reality.
"The human body is the best picture of the human soul."
The human body, as a physical entity, can provide insights into the nature of human experience, consciousness, and the self. Wittgenstein was interested in the relationship between language, thought, and the mind. He believed that our understanding of the mind and its processes should be grounded in observable phenomena, including the behavior and physical manifestations of the body. In this quote, he suggests that the body serves as a visible representation or expression of the inner life of a person, which encompasses their thoughts, emotions and individuality.
There are no necessary and sufficient conditions that make something a work of art. The best one can do is identify a formal set of resemblances. Art forms are not static so no theory of art is actually possible and efforts to reach a definition of art should be abandoned. Instead of wondering about the nature and essence of art, it is more useful to analyze its roles and the kind of ideas it represents. (Morris Weitz, borrowing "family resemblance")
We should focus on the practical aspect of building construciton and architecture before trying to express some metaphysical thought in ophysical building form.
